Harley-Davidson Riding Academy
AMO is the exclusive training provider conducting the Harley-Davidson® Riding Academy at Glendale Harley-Davidson, Home of the Love Ride. AMO’s professional instructors are certified to conduct the additional aspects of HD’s New Rider Course, essentially the CHP MTC with the classroom held at Glendale HD and riding held at the Glendale Civic Auditorium.
One very unique factor of this course is that you learn using a Harley-Davidson Street 500. The Street 500 specs are:
Engine size: 494cc
Weight: 514 lbs. running order
Seat Height: 28.3: unladen
Due to the added power, weight, and size of the bike, AMO STRONGLY encourages new riders to visit the Glendale Harley-Davidson dealership and ask about the Harley-Davidson JUMP START that is designed to improve new rider success rate.
Upon successful completion of the CMSP Motorcyclist Training Course, students will receive a DMV DL389 certificate that may waive the riding skills test requirement at the DMV, the DMV written test would not be waived.
Balance your weight (e.g., bicycle, skateboard, surfboard, skis/snowboard, gymnastics are some ways of showing yourself you can balance.
Minimum age is 15 ½ with parental approval needed for those under 18.
A valid governmental ID card from a country, state, public college or high school.
Ability to sit on motorcycle, manage & control it, and the strength to balance yourself and a heavier motorcycle described above.
Knowledge and skill to acquire M1 license from the CA DMV after meeting all of their requirements.
Most insurance companies offer discounts for passing this course.
Basic level of skill to attend AMO’s other early-level and intermediate rider courses.
