Next Step DMV!
Wait for your DL389
Your Certificate of Completion (DL389) is mailed to the address provided during registration. Please allow 7-10 business days. The DL389 is valid for 1 year from issue date.
Under 21 Riders: Timing is Critical
If you are under 21, you are required to hold your permit for 6 months before getting your license. Do not wait to go to the DMV. If your DL389 expires (1 year) before your 6-month permit period ends, you must retake the course.
Know the Permit Restrictions
If issued a permit (Under 21 holds for 6 months), California law prohibits:
- No Freeway Riding
- No Nighttime Riding
- No Passengers
Head to the DMV
Bring your DL389 waiver. You will need to pass the Vision Exam and the Motorcycle Knowledge Test (written).
Riders 21 and Over
You skip the permit waiting period! Upon passing your written/vision tests and turning in your DL389, you will be issued your full M1 Motorcycle License immediately.
Time to get riding!
You have the training. You have the license. Now commit.
